Carson's new hairstyle

I recently posted something about Carson cutting his hair in Kindergarten class.  Well-Chris took the clippers to Carson's hair and tried to fix it without having to shave it.  Well-that wasn't working and so Chris decided to teach Carson a lesson about cutting his own hair--and gave him a buzz.  Carson hates his hair like that and cried about it.  I was upset too.  I like the stylish hair Carson had.  Oh well-it grows back and I don't think Carson will ever cut his hair again.  He's feeling better about his hair now since I had a talk with him about it.  Lesson learned...the hard way...He's still smiling though!

My BCC surgery

Today I had my surgery to remove the Basal Cell Carcinoma that was above my left eyebrow.
Let me back up a few months. Back in April I went to the dermatologist about this red spot above my eyebrow. It was noticeable and itchy. I had a biopsy done and it turned out to be Basal cell carcinoma (BCC). Which isn't life threatening but nonetheless is skin cancer. So I went in for surgery back in May. However, the Dr. wanted to reschedule the surgery because I was pregnant with Riley at the time. I was told it was safe to do during my pregnancy, but then when he saw the size of the spot he said the anesthetic would be to much for the baby.
So here I am today a couple months after Riley was born and finally got it removed. I was so nervous because I thought it was pretty involved.  I had Chris, my Dad, and Josh Tollefson give me a blessing last night. I got something to relax me today, which was helpful. It made me tired and a little loopy. The first part of the surgery was the removal and the Dr. got it all the first time, so that was good. Then I went back in for the repair. That was the worst part. He showed me how he was going to repair it by not causing the tissue to pucker or make me look like Elvis with my eyebrow raising up. I made sure to tell him to not do that. "Thank you very much!" So during the repair I was shaking (from the anesthetic I think) and it was kindof scary to have someone working on your forehead while you are awake. The Dr. and nurse were great though. They were talking to me and telling me jokes and stories. It was a pretty quick surgery and we were home by 1 pm. It was really weird having 1/2 my forehead, eyelid, and top of my head completely numb. Chris decided to stay with me all day instead of going back to work. He was great. He took care of the kids. Riley was very fussy since I couldn't nurse her today from the meds and anesthesia.  He made dinner too. I was so tired,  I slept this afternoon.  It was great to rest.
The picture of me holding an L to my head is because I'm a major loser for not going in sooner for a skin check, even after everything with Chris' cancer. Also now I have a huge stitch line in the shape of a L. The Dr. showed me the stitches afterwards. Now I don't have to do the L shape with my hand, it is now branded on my forehead. HaHa! I have to keep the bandage on all the time, so redressing it everyday for a week.
So let this be a lesson to all you fair skinned people who like to sun tan. Please use SPF lotion and see a Dermatologist (start at an earlier age). I never thought I would end up with BCC at a young age. Most common areas are above the eyebrows or on the nose.  I'm doing fine now, still tired and having a little bit of pain, but manageable. I'll update my status later, after the stitches come out. For now I have to wear a huge bandage for a week.

Carson cut his hair

So I finally experienced a child cutting his hair. On Friday at school Carson cut his hair. Funny thing is I didn't notice until today, Sunday, when I was doing his hair for church. I thought his hair looked weird in the front. Then Chris was fixing his hair and had Carson show me what he did. I laugh about it now. However, tomorrow is school pictures. Carson is such a crazy little BOY.

Shelby's Birthday party

We had a party for Shelby on Saturday Sept. 8th from 1-3pm at the house.  We did a Jungle theme.  We mainly invited family and some friends.  I always enjoy planning parties for my kids.  So-even though Shelby was only turning 2-I still wanted to do a party. It was lots of fun.  We had a safari, the bouncy house, Chris did face painting for the kids, and we had finger foods and Jungle theme cupcakes.

Invitations!

The Jungle theme cupcakes I made.

Chris made a cut out for the kids to pose in as a Jungle animal.  It's just like the Wild Life Safari in Oregon. Chris did an awesome job with it.
I made the safari animals.  Chris isn't the only artist in the family-I can do a little bit.
Here are the kids on the safari-looking at the different animals.  Chad enjoyed driving the tractor and being the guide.

I had the kids try to toss the ball in the lion's mouth during the safari ride.
Chris had fun doing the facce painting.
Singing Happy Birthday.  Shelby was acting kindof shy.

 Carter as a tiger

Shelby got a snake and a butterfly on the other cheek.
This was Shelby's favorite gift she got.  She loves playing with her baby doll and pushing her stroller.
 The whole gang.

It was a fun party.  Thanks for all those who came.

Labor Day

We didn't do much for Labor Day.  It was nice to have the day off together.  Chris worked on the wagon.  Of course that is always something that Chris does-is work on a car.  The kids just played and then in the evening we took the kids to the Idaho Museum to see the King Tut exhibit and then to dinner at one of our favorite diners-Dixie's Diner.  It was also a family night activity.  Holly really enjoyed the King Tut exhibit since she is really into science and history.  She has been asking us if we can go to that.

I love how Shelby is posing!  We told the kids to "Walk like an Egyptian!"
About to go eat some yummy Diner food.

Shelby is 2!

Today is Shelby's 2nd Birthday. Shelby spent the day with me, shopping at Toys R Us for her present. We spent 2 hours there.  I let her play with every toy in the store. Then got her bday presents. Tonight we took her out for frozen yogurt at kiwi loco.  She got a free yogurt. I asked her "how old are you?" And Shelby said, " I non no". So I was telling her all day " you're 2." Being the little stinker she is, today she got into the cabinet under the sink and found the spray bottle with MR. Clean in it. She decided to clean the kitchen. She squirted it all over the front of the oven and on the floor. She got it all over and then slipped and fell on her butt. I came back in the room and saw what she had done. It smelled really clean. Now the cabinet has a dish towel lock on it. She is my curious 2 year old. Shelby weighs 23.5 lbs. and is 35.5 in. tall today. She is so much fun and makes me laugh all the time.

Holly and her new glasses

Holly has been complaining that she can't see the board at school.  I took her to the eye doctor and sure enough she is nearsided.  She needed glasses.  Chris helped Holly pick out her frames.  Holly really likes her glasses and wears them all the time.  She doesn't need to wear them at home or when she is playing.  She looks so cute in them.  To bad she got her mom's eyes.  She likes glasses now, but someday she is going to wish she didn't have bad eye sight.

RIP Jimmy and Say Hello to RED

Back in July we let our friend borrow our '83 GMC truck (We call Jimmy) and he used it to pull a vehicle.  Well, he lost control and flipped the truck and trailor.  It was a very bad wreck (as you can see from the pictures of Jimmy.  Luckily our friend walked away from the accident with only a scratch.  However, Jimmy didn't make it.  What an awesome truck Jimmy was, since it actually saved our friend's life.  Well-Chris wanted to get another truck before winter set in.  So-here is RED (BTW-we only name our trucks) our new '95 Dodge Ram truck.  Now we have all Dodge drivers.  Chris is planning on letting the wagon rest for the winter and then drive RED daily.

Riley is 2 months old

Riley turned 2 months old on Sunday-which was her blessing day.  She had her doctor appt. on Sept 4th-and weighs 12 lbs. 1 oz., height is 23.5 in.  She gained 3.5 lbs in 6 weeks, from her last doctor appt. She's doing really well now.  Riley smiles, laughs, and cooing all the time now.  She's such a happy baby for the most part.  She is somewhat colic-and it really hurts her-all of a sudden she will just cry and be fussy until I can get her to burp,  then she's all smiles.  We're still trying to figure out why she is gassy.  She's starting to sleep through the night.  Some nights she will sleep from 10pm-5:30 am or even longer to 6:30 am.  I'm so excited about that-because I can actually function better with more sleep.  Somedays she will spit up all over me.  Like on Aug. 22nd (the first day of school for Holly and Carson) I went to the store with Shelby and Riley.  Before I went in the store I fed Riley in the car and right when she's almost done nursing, she spits up all over me and it goes all over my lap and on the seat.  I cleaned myself up, but I looked like I just peed my pants.  Oh well-I still went into the store even with wet pants.  Then on Sept. 4th I was feeding her before her doctor appt. and she spit up on me.  Well-it went down my shirt and got in my hair.  She always seems to get me when I'm not covered with a burp rag or blanket. I think she is just marking me with her scent, letting other babies to back off.  So most days I'm covered in spit up, but after she has spit up on me-then she gives me a big smile.  How can I resist loving her so much!!

Riley's Blessing Day

On Sunday September 2, 2012 Chris blessed Riley in our ward,  Rexburg 19th Ward.  Riley didn't cry and was a perfect little baby.  In the circle was: Grandpa Jones, Josh Tollefson, and Jefferson Sleigel (from the Bishopric).  Kim and her kids along with Scott and Denise and their kids came for the blessing.  Of course, Riley wore the blessing dress that both Holly and Shelby wore along with all the Jones Granddaughters.
